Change Management

Change is the only certain thing in your working life…

Throughout my career, I have explained this and helped my staff to grab hold of the opportunities that change brings. I have sought out and introduced new processes and technology to enhance organisational effectiveness and market position. Initiatives range from the introduction of desk-top publishing into production workflows in the 1980s, to the recent transition to digital media, including eBooks. As Publishing Director at Thomas Nelson’s, I lead the team that published, in 2000, the first ever digital edition of Shakespeare’s works, in the world-renowned Arden Edition.

At QCA, I established a new planning framework for 14-19 qualifications. In this thought-leadership role, I negotiated and motivated senior officers in organisations with sometimes divergent interests, including awarding bodies, government departments, unions, employers’ representatives, universities and subject groups. For the Learning and Skills Network (LSN), I examined the business potential in the education sector and developed a business plan, investment proposals and presentations to the Executive Board. Once approved, I recruited staff, integrated the new business within the existing organisation, established a raft of strategically-important partnerships and alliances.
